THE SIX MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IN PRAYER (PART 2): When we allow the Holy Spirit to pray through us -- and to help us in our prayer life --- by praying Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Samuel we will see amazing answers to our prayer. "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." (Ephesians 6:18). Dr. James Moffatt's translation of (Ephesians 6:18), quoted above, says "praying at all times . . . With all manner of prayer. . ." Another modern translation says, "praying with all kinds of prayer." The King James version, even though it does not say "all kinds of prayer," says "praying always with all prayer," inferring that there is more than one kind of prayer. If there were not, it merely would have said, "praying always," and would have stopped there. Our Bibles are full of Scripture prayer and the Holy Spirit will agree only with the Word of God flowing from the lips of the believer causing the manifestation of the promise. How desperately our nation needs prayer. How desperately the body of Jesus Christ needs prayer. How desperately we as individuals need prayer. Nothing can take the place of prayer for meeting the needs of our family. In our last lesson we discussed three point in our study of the six most important things the believer should know about prayer. They were (1) pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus; (2) Believe you receive; and (3) forgive when you pray. This lesson will cover the last three points in this topic. NUMBER (4) DEPEND UPON THE HOLY SPIRIT IN YOUR PRAYER LIFE: (Romans 8:26- 27). "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God." He maketh intercession for the saints according to the Word of God ! (1 Corinthians 14:14-15). "For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then ? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also." Believers everywhere pray with the understanding, and most of the time it's words and phrases that are not in the Bible, But Not All Pray with the Spirit (pray in tongues). Many do not know it is even possible to do so. Or perhaps they have been taught that, that died when the apostles died. Some in their haste and their ignorance of the Scriptures have said that tongues have been done away with. But if that were true, how are we to "pray with the spirit" today ? Surely the Corinthian believers didn't have a means of praying that we can't have. We have the same meanings available to us today !
