THE PRAYER OF COMMITMENT: When the winds of adversity blow, we can do exactly as the Word of God says. However, if you don't do what the word says you will not reap the results. We do not have to fret our worry; we can cast our burdens on the Lord. Do you sometimes pray about a problem with seemingly no results ? Unanswered prayer usually are due to our not praying in line with the Word or not praying the Word of God that all. Often there are times when we need to pray the prayer of commitment. Peter talks about this kind of prayer when he said, "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you" (1 Peter 5:7) many precious people are just Hearers of the Word and not doers. I believe the amplified Bible translation of this verse is most illuminating and enlightening. It says, "Casting the whole of your care -- all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all -- on Him; for He cares for you affectionately, and cares about you watchfully." How wonderful that we can cast our cares upon the Lord in prayer ! Again as I stated above many people are just hearers of the Word not doers ! James says "But be ye doors of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a door, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgeth what manner of man he was. But whoso looked into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a door of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." The King James Bible, I believe that the amplified Bible translation is most illuminating and enlightening. "But be doors of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth]. For if anyone only listens to the Word without obeying it and being a doer of it, he is like a man who looks carefully at his [own] natural face in a mirror; for he thoughtfully observes himself, and then goes off and probably forgets what he was like. But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing [his life of obedience]." PRAY ACCORDING TO THE LAWS OF FAITH THAT GOVERNING PRAYER: If people would just pray this prayer of commitment, based upon the Scriptures, it will eliminate some of things they are praying about ! Many people prayers are not answered because they are not doing what God said to do about cares, anxieties, worries, and concerns. Other believers seem self-satisfied to think that God knows and understands all about their problems -- but they still cling to these cares. Therefore, they don't get their prayers answered. It is not enough to know that God understands and is concerned. We must do what He said to do if we want to be delivered from our problems. God has given us the provision to overcoming the devil, self, and the world: and if you're not using that provision which is the Word of God you cannot expect to be delivered from your situation or circumstances that you have brought upon yourself. The counterpart to James 1:22-25), is found in (Luke 6:46). "And why call you me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say ? Whosoever comes to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth, I will show you to when he is like: he is like a man which built the house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, and the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built a house upon the earth; that house which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great." The King James Bible translation. I believe that the amplified Bible translation is most illuminating and enlightening !. "Why do you call Me, Lord, Lord, and do not [practice] what I tell you ? For everyone who comes to Me and listens to My Words [in order to heed their teaching] and does them, I will show you what he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug and went down deep and laid a foundation upon the rock; and when a flood arose, the torrent broke against that house and could not shake or move it, because it had been securely built or founded on a rock. But he who merely hears and does not practice going My Words is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation, of this which the torrent burst, and immediately it collapsed and fell, and the breaking and ruin of that house was great."
