THE GOD KIND OF FAITH vs FEELINGS : A formula for the God kind of faith is: (1) Find a promise in God's Word for whatever you are seeking. (2) Believe God's Word. (3) Do not consider contradictory physical circumstances. (4) Praise God for the answer. The beloved man of faith Smith Wigglesworth once said, "I can't understand God by feelings. I can't understand the Lord Jesus Christ by feelings. I can only understand God the Father and Jesus Christ by what the Word says about them. God is everything the word says He is. And Jesus Christ is everything the Word says He is. We need to get acquainted with them through the Word. Too many people try to get acquainted with God through their feelings, or through their what you would call church experience. When they feel good, they think God has heard their prayers. When they don't feel particularly good, they think He has not heard them. Their faith is based on their feelings or on their situation, whereas it should be based on God's Word. A THOMAS FAITH: (John 20:24-- 29). "But Thomas, one of the 12, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the door being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then said he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and being not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, my Lord and my God. Jesus said unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed." Thomas was one who based his faith upon his feelings. There are many who have such natural human faith and base their faith upon their feelings, rather than the Word of God. He said he would not believe unless he could see with his own eyes the prints of the nails in Jesus hands, and touch these nail prints with his own hands. He relied on what he could see and touch, not on what God had to say. We have many "Thomas believers" today--- those who believe only what they can feel, see, hear, or touch, even taste. If you would notice these are of the natural human five senses. Real faith and I'm talking about the God kind of faith in God is based upon the Word of God. Real faith says, "if God says it is true, it is. Believing God is believing His Word. Not debating, or arguing ! If God's word says He hears me, are you I know He hears me, because His Word cannot lie. If our faith is based upon feelings, or up on circumstances we are just using natural human faith and we cannot get spiritual results with natural human faith. We have two use spiritual faith which is the God kind of faith-- Bible faith-- believing in God's Word.
