THE GOD KIND OF FAITH TO STILL A STORM: (Mark 4:35-40). "And the same day, when the evening was come, he saith unto them, LET US PASS OVER UNTO THE OTHER SIDE. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there was also with him other little ships. And there arose a great stone of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship asleep on a pillow: and they awake him and say unto him, Master, CAREST THOU NOT THAT WE PERISH ? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, BE STILL. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, WHY ARE YOU SO FEARFUL ? How is it that you have no faith ?" One evening, after a full day of preaching to the multitudes, Jesus told His disciples, who were gathered about Him in a ship, "Let us pass over unto the other side." He was weary and promptly fell into a deep sleep in the back of the ship, oblivious to the stone that arose. He continued to sleep peacefully despite the waves that pounded the little ship. His disciples were anything but peaceful. As the howling winds grew and the ship filled with water, the disciples awakened Jesus, saying, "Don't You even care that our boat is about to sink and we'll all die ?" They had forgotten Jesus words as they had started out on their journey. Our we like the early disciples that start our journey with the Lord, and get our eyes and ears focused on other things ! Jesus stood up, rebuked the wind, and stilled the storm. The Sea of Galilee became calm and peaceful once more. Then He turned to His disciples and rebuked them: "Why did you doubt Me ? Why are you so full of fear ? Where is your faith ? Didn't I tell you at the outset of this journey that we would cross to the other side ? Why didn't you believe Me ?" The disciples had allowed doubt and fear as well as unbelief to come into their hearts, driving out faith in Jesus promise that they would make it safely to the other side. Once again the thief named doubt or unbelief had triumphed. Let us notice the similarities in these three Biblical illustrations. In each one, Jesus rebuked the disciples for their unbelief (Matthew 14:31); (Matthew 17:20); (Mark 4:40), and in each one He solved the problem of the disciples through their lack of faith, had failed to solve. In all three instances, the disciples possessed the power to handle the circumstances. In each instance, the thief of doubt and unbelief as well as fear The disciples from receiving God's best for them. His highest and best was for them to receive by their faith. (Proverbs 18:21). If we, too, will Utilize the Power That Is within Us and Act on God's Word, we will achieve the blessings God has planned for our lives. "Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, be That lifted up and thrown into the sea ! And does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him." (Mark 11:23). The amplified Bible.
