THE ENDUEMENT OF POWER ON THE EARLY CHURCH: Let us look again and the amplified version of (1 Corinthians 3:16), ". . . God's Spirit has His permanent dwelling in us -- to be at home in you and me..." Few of us are conscience of God's living in our bodies, for we could not be conscience of His living within us and still talk the way we do, and do the things that the world is doing ! Many believers are more sin conscience, which God calls an evil conscience ! (Hebrews 10:19 through 23). "Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he had consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh. And having an high priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering for he is faithful that promised." For example, when asked to do some difficult things how quick we are to say, "No, I can't do that." Why do we do this ? It is because we are trusting in our sales to do it, and we know we don't have the ability. But if we He is in us, we know He has the ability. We change the "I can't" to "I can," because we are trusting in Him. We say, "I can, because He is in me are you. Greater Is He that is in me than he that is in the world." No matter what impossibilities we may be facing, We Can Say, "He will make me a success, Because He indwells me are you." This kind of believing -- this kind of talking -- is faith talking, and it will put Him to work for us. Believe me I know what I'm talking about ! Some people have a wrong conception of the Holy Spirit's role in their lives. They think He will come in, take over, and run the show. However, God the Holy Spirit, God the Son, and God the Father will not come against your will. They expect Him to become sort of a boss, without their having to do anything. The Holy Spirit, however, is a gentleman. He will God and direct us; He will prompt and urge; But He never will force our control our life. Demons and evil spirits control those whom they enter, forcing them to do things they don't want to do, But the Holy Spirit gently leads and guides us. He won't do anything until we put Him to work for us, Because He is sent to be our Helper. He is not sent to do the job, but to help us do it. The amplified version of (Ephesians 3:16-17) says, "May he grant you out of the rich treasury of his glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the Holy Spirit [Himself] - indwelling your innermost being and personality. May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell - settle down, abide, make His permanent home -- in your hearts ! May you be rooted deep in love and found it securely on love." In this passage of Scripture, Paul was writing to those who already were born again and filled with the Holy Spirit. How does Christ abide in our hearts ? Through our faith. Christ wants to dwell in our hearts; to reign as king on the throne of our hearts. But too few have allowed him to do so. Yes, they make the statement that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior ! But they will not allow him to dominate every part of their being. People look outside themselves for God to do something. They sing, "Come by here, Lord. Come by here." They Think If We Could Only Get Him to "Come by here," he might do something for them ! Then we sing, "reach out and touch the Lord as He goes by." But this is all since knowledge. It is all on the outside. It is all physical. Someone might argue, "but in the Bible didn't the woman with the issue of blood reach out and touch the Lord ?" Yes, but that was when he was here on the earth in physical form. Now he is not only with us; He is in us. We don't have to reach out and touch Him; he That is always in us. But this is not going to do us any good unless we know it and believe it, and you won't be putting anything in your body. Because the Holy Spirit will not raise up and take over. When we know He is in there, and we act intelligently On God's Word, He will work through us. We can say, "Greater Is He that is in me than he that is in the world. The Greater One is in me. I am depending on Him. He will put me over. He will make me a success, because He is in me. The master of creation is making His home in my body. (1 John 4:4).
