SIX ENEMIES TO THE GOD KIND OF FAITH: ENEMY NO. 3 -- FAILURE TO UNDERSTAND RIGHTHTEOUSNESS: (2 Corinthians 5:21). "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7). Therefore, by the New Birth, we become a righteous new creature. We know God did not make any unrighteous new creatures. We are created by God in Christ Jesus, and He made us righteous new creatures. We are sons and daughters of God as though we never had Sinned. We can stand in his presence without sin consciousness; without any feelings of guilt or shame. However, many believers are more sin conscience than God in them conscience. God caused this an evil conscience ! (Hebrews 10:20-- 23). "By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh. And having an high priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession [confession] of our faith without wavering for he is faithful that promised," we don't have to be paralyzed with fear. We can come into God's presence because we belong there. When we were born again, our sins were remitted, because our past life stop existing. However, if the things you used to do and say still exist in your life that means that you have not been born again ! However God said He wouldn't remember our transgressions (Jeremiah 31:34). And if He doesn't remember them, why should we ? Some might ask, "but I have committed sin since becoming a Believer. How can I be righteous ?" The answer to this question is found in (1 John 1:9), "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." When the believer who had sinned confesses his or her sins and ask for forgiveness, the Lord does two things: (1). He forgives him or her; (2). He cleanses him or her from all unrighteousness. When we sin, because it is an act of your will ! We feel guilty and have a sense of unrighteousness. We feel unworthy to come into God's presence. But when we confess our sins, he forgives and cleanses us. We regain our right standing with Him. Let me clarify something I said about being not born again; Many Believers do not understand that the old man is dead, that's why many believers are up and down in and out in their relationship with God. I suggest that many of you who are reading this lesson go back and read, (Romans chapter 6, 7, and 8. The word "unrighteousness" is simply the word "righteousness" with the prefix "un" in front of it; it means "not righteousness" or "non-righteousness." If we are cleanse from "non-righteousness," we are righteous again.
