NUMBER 5: PRAY THE PRAYER OF INTERCESSION ! This point ties in closely With Number 4. (Romans 8:26) says, ". . . The spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." The prayer of intercession is not for you. And intercessor is one who takes the place of another. You are interceding for another person or persons. Every spirit filled believer can expect the Holy Spirit to help him or her intercede. This intercession can be for someone's salvation, healing, deliverance, preservation, etc. It even includes praying for things or people we don't know about, but the Holy Spirit does. After a time of praying in the spirit we will know whether we were praying in tongues for ourselves -- to build ourselves up spiritually and worship God, which is discussed in the next step -- or we were interceding for others. On occasion -- and sometimes over a period of time -- I have had a burden of intercession before I even know for whom I was praying. I can tell when I am in intercession or travail for someone who is lost and living a sinful lifestyle. People in general who says they know the Lord and do and say all manner of things may not be truly saved: The Scripture says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things passed away; behold, all things become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17). What became new ? It wasn't the soul of man, it wasn't his or her body; it was his or her spirit that is created a new in Christ Jesus. Now, the soul and your body wars against you the spirit and dominates the spirit man every time through your flesh. The reason why preachers and teachers of the word tell people to read their Bibles after they have confessed Jesus Christ as Lord is for the sole purpose of renewing or re-creating the mind your thinker, so that you can think God's thoughts after Him. Many precious believers are freshly dominated through the appetites of the flesh and the unrenewed mind with all kind of habits and thoughts because they failed to renew their minds with God's Word, they are being conformed to the world through music through television and other media sources. When you take the place of a lost person in intercession, you will experience that same lost feeling in your own spirit. As you pray in the Spirit or praying the Word of God, interceding for the person or persons, the Holy Spirit will deal with his or her heart and bring him or her under conviction of sin. "But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the Holy Spirit responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]: then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh of human nature without God." The amplified Bible. For the desires of the flesh are opposite to the Holy Spirit and the re-created spirit the desires of the spirit are opposite to the flesh godless human nature; for these are antagonistic to each other continually withstanding and in conflict with each other, so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do. But if you are God it led by the Holy Spirit or the re-created spirit, you are not subject to the Law of Moses, but of the law of faith. Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear obvious: they are inmorality, indecency, adultery, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (fractions), sects with procure your opinions, heresies), Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God." (Galatians 5:16 through 21).
