THE HELMET OF SALVATION ! "And take the helmet of salvation, and the s-word of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, (in The Word), and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints (v.v. 17-18). Praying always with all prayer. The Word of God praying. The apostle Paul is talking about prayer armor. Part of that armor is the helmet of salvation. The word salvation means "Deliverance, Preservation, Healing, and Soundness." All those ideas are present in the word salvation and they all belong to us who believe. King David said, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy (Psalms 107:2). Many believers are not walking in the full provision of salvation because they are not willing to let go of the world and because they are speaking the world's language and not saying what God said. They remain in the hand of the enemy. (2 Timothy 2:22-26). "Shun youthful lusts and flee from them, and aim at and pursue righteousness (all that isvirturous and good, right living, conformity to the will of God in thought, word, and deed); and aim at and pursue] faith, love, and peace (harmony and concord with others in fellowship with all believers, who call upon the Lord out of a pure heart. But refuse (shut your mind against, having nothing to do with) trifling (ill-informed, unedifying, stupid) conversations over ignorant questionings, for you know that they fester strife and breed quarrels. And the servant of the Lord must not be quarrelsome (fighting and contending), instead he must be kindly to everyone and mild tempered (preserving the bond of peace]; he must be a skilled and suitable teacher, patient and forbearing and willing to suffer wrong. He must correct his opponents with courtesy and gentleness, in the hope that God may grant that they will repent and come to know the Truth [that they will perceive and recognize and become accurately acquainted with and acknowledging it]. And that they may come to their senses [and] escape out of the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him, [henceforth] to do His [God's] will." Deliverance, healing, preservation, and soundness belongs to us. Jesus paid for it ! (Isaiah 53:4-5).
