REASON NUMBER FIVE ! Some Christians destroy their faith by their praying. That is neither the will nor the direction of God. Prayer is not for the destruction of your faith. When you are reminding God of what he said, then you are praying to obtain the answer -- "whatsoever things you desire." I do not desire the problem, so I don't pray the problem. In other words don't reminding God of the problem. So many people travel that religious road of praying for 20 years of their Christian life, and seldom saw a prayer answered. If they did, it was just a faith accident. Someone stated it this way, and I think it's a good illustration. It's about 35 miles from Dallas to Fort Worth Texas. If you started out from Dallas to Fort Worth, and drove for three days and didn't get there, you would know you were on the wrong road. But they travel that religious road of praying for 20 years and never get to their destination. But when I found in the Scriptures that I was supposed to pray the answer instead of the problem, I got more prayers answered in two weeks than I did in the previous 20 years. This may help you solve 20 years of wasted prayer. Don't pray the problem. Pray the answer. Which is the Word of God ! "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the theme whereunto I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11). Who is going to return God's Word to Him ? He is expecting you to do that. If you return God's Word to Him, it will cause your faith to grow. It will renew your mind, and it will plant seeds in the kingdom of God that is within you. God is not trying to make it hard on you. That is the devil and his bunch ! Jesus said, that his burdens are light and his yoke is easy. He's trying to make it easier for you. Confessing God's Word works for you because it changes your heart. Peter says it this way, "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abided for ever." (1 Peter 1:23). (Proverbs 4:20-23) gives good advice on this subject. "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health (medicine) to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." You are the one to keep, or guard, your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues, or forces of life. According to Mark 4, our heart can get filled with thorns and stones. That's why it is important for the heart to be changed or born again. The soil tries as hard to make a strong produce as it does a seed. It furnishes the same nutrition to a stone as it does to a seed. But the stone will not produce, because there is no life in it. The stone takes moisture away from the seed. The parable of the sower reveals that seeds that are sown on stony ground don't produce. The soil will give as much time, space and monster to a stone as it will to a seed, but that is no life in the stone. The Word of God is the incorruptible seed, it is full of spirit life. So by removing the stones and thorns and showing the incorruptible seed of God's Word, we change the heart..
