JESUS WAS MISUNDERSTOOD BECAUSE OF HIS WORDS ! When Jesus was talking to the religious world of His day He said, "Why do you misunderstand what I say ? It is because you are unable to hear what I am saying. [You cannot bear to listen to My message; your ears are shut to My teaching]. You are of your father, the devil, and it is your will to practice the lusts and gratify the desires [which are characteristic] of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a falsehood, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar [himself] and father of lies and out all that is false." (John 8:43- 44). The amplified Bible. As I've stated in one of the lesson, Jesus was strange even in His own household and town he did not carry on in natural conversation. The brother of Jesus James recognized this, Jesus disrupted their religious services turned over the tables of the money changers in the Temple and all those who sold sacrifice. James the brother of Jesus said this: "Not Many [of you] should become teachers (self constituted sensors and reproves of others), my brethren, for you know that we [teachers] will be judged by a higher standard and with greater severity [than other people; thus we assume the greater accountability and the more condemnation]. For we all offend stumble and fall in many anything. And if any one does not offend in speech [never say the wrong things], he is a fully developed character and a perfect man (mature man), able to control his whole body and to curb his entire nature. Verse 3, if we set bits in the horses mouths to make them obey us, we can turn their whole bodies about. Verse 4, Likewise, look at the ships though they are so great and are driven by rough winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the impulse of the helmsman determines. Even so the tongue is a little member, and it can boast of great things. See how much wood or how great a forest a tiny spark can set ablaze ! Verse 6, And the tongue is a fire. [The tongue is a] world of wickedness set among our members, contaminating and depriving the whole body and setting on fire the wheel of birth [the cycle of man's nature] being itself ignited by hell (Gehenna)." James is simply saying your words sets the cornerstones of your life whether good or bad and it is ignited by hell (Satan or God). Now, in God there is no darkness: no death just light ! Verse 7, For every kind of beast and bird, and reptiles and sea animals, can be then and has been tamed by human genius (nature). But the human tongue can be tamed by no man. It is a restless (undisciplined, irreconcilable) evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who were made in God's likeness ! Verse 10, Out of the same mouth comes forth blessings and cursing. These things my brethren, ought not to be so." If you do not like what is in your life, then you need to submit your tongue your spirit and soul and body to that which is stronger than the natural man. And that is the Word of God which is the power of God unto salvation !
