JESUS WAS MISUNDERSTOOD BECAUSE OF HIS CONFESSION ! "These things says he: and after that he said unto them, our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he should do well. Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep." (John 11:11-13). Jesus realized they had misunderstood Him when the disciples said, "if Lazarus is asleep, he is doing well." Jesus was calling the thing that was not. Lazarus wasn't asleep, he was dead, Jesus knew he was dead. It took the runner about a day to get down there with the bad news. Then Jesus stayed there two more days, and then walked to Bethany, which took about one day. On the way to Bethany, Jesus said, "Lazarus sleepeth." What was He doing ? He was guarding His conversation so He wouldn't undo what He had already declared in the beginning ("The end results will not be death"). But His disciples misunderstood Him. Now, many of Christians today misunderstand how the kingdom of God is suppose to work in their lives. Many think that just because the Bible has all of these promises, that it is supposed to just happen in their lives; because they attend church or perhaps they sing in the choir or they are in the mission field. No, We Have to choose God's method; of calling those things that be not as though they were. James the brother of Jesus thought Jesus was strange ! Because Jesus would even have a normal conversation in the home: even in the synagogue, Jesus would disrupt the religious people services. So, Jesus Himself said he would only say what He heard the Father say ! (John 12:48-49). "Anyone who rejects Me and persistently sets Me at naught, refusing to accept My teachings, has his judge [however]: for the [very] message that I spoke with itself judge and convict him at the last day. This is because I have never spoken on My own authority or My own accord or as self-appointed, but the Father who sent Me has Himself given Me orders [concerning] what to say and what to tell. (Deuteronomy 18:18-19). The amplified Bible.
