GOD'S WORD CONCEIVED BY MARY ! You will notice after the child's birth Zacharias Steele couldn't talk. Others were trying to name the child Zacharias after his father, but Elizabeth said, "No, his name shall be John." They objected, and asked Zacharias what he wanted to name the child. Notice, he couldn't talk, even after the child was born. "And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying His name is John. And they marvelled all. And his mouth was open immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake and praise God." (Luke 1:62-64). After everything was performed as God said, after they name the child John, he was totally in agreement with God and immediately Zacharias tongue was loosed and he could speak. Now, let's look at a contrast in this same chapter. This same angel appeared to Mary. "And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that are highly favored, the Lord is with thee: blast art thou among women. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end." (Luke 1:28-30-33). Mary didn't get into unbelief, but yet she asked a question. She simply didn't understand how this could happen. "Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man ? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:34-35). Notice what Mary said in response, then compare this with Zacharias response ! "And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her."(Luke 1:38). If God is going to give the same treatment to everyone, why didn't He also strike her dumb ? God is no respecter of persons. Why would He strike Zacharias dumb and not strike Mary dumb ? God brought a message to her through Gabriel just like He brought a message to Zacharias. The problem was that Zacharias did not have faith to conceive it or did not agree with it. So God just stopped his negative talk. But Mary received the Word of God. She actually conceived God's Word sent by an angel. Zacharias didn't. Mary agreed with God, after the angel explained to her that this would be a act of the Holy Spirit.
