GOD'S WORD ABIDING IN US ! Jesus said, "what things soever you desire you pray, you see, and you shall have them (Mark 11:24). He didn't say a thing about God's will, did He ? This is one verse of Scripture that would contradict the interpretation of (1 John 5:14), "if it is God's will." Now let's go to another witness. Jesus said, if you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask: what God will ? No ! Ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7). It doesn't say a thing about God's will . Ask what you will you. The condition is that the word has to abide in you. But if the word of God abides in you, then you are going to refrain your prayer accurately according to the word of God and you are not going to pray for things that you know are not the will of God. It would be foolish if you had a financial need to pray that someone would lose their billfold so you could find it and get their money. That would be evil. The Bible says in (James 4:2-3), you have not, because you ask not. He is talking about the rule for asking. You ask and receive not because you ask amiss. Here James is not talking about asking for something that just wasn't God's will. He goes further and deeper than that. The word amiss means evil. Ask evil. If you read on, you will find out what the problem was. He says to them, "you adulterous and adulteresses." They were probably praying for someone else's wife, and that is evil ! If you praying for things you know are evil, your heart will condemn you and your faith will not work. Wouldn't it have been wonderful if Jesus had said, "if you abide in me, asked what you will and it shall be done." Oh, praise God, that would have been great ! Everyone born again could just asked what they want, and there it would be. But it doesn't work that way. Jesus said, if you abide (continue) in me, and my words abide (continue) in you, ask what you will and it shall be done. Sometimes people pray, "Dear Lord, I cast this care on you and I believe You to take this care, and I praise You, Father, that the need is met." But before they get out of what is called church, they say, "you know I am so worried. I just don't know what I'm going to do." The Word did not abide in them. If you abide in me (continue) and my words (continue) in you, ask what you will and it shall be done unto you.
