FAITH AND CORRESPONING ACTION ! That is what people are doing, if they only is a hearer of the Word of God. They hear what the Word of God said about them. They see what manner of person God says they are. The mirror he is referring to is the Word of God, for the Word of God accurately reflects to us what God says we are. People are quick to agree with God when it comes to sin. You know they are saying, "we all just sinners" there confess that to the point to where all they are thinking about is sinning. But that is not what the Bible says that all. It says, all have sinned and came short of the glory of God. A Hearer of the Word is like a man or woman who looked into the Word and said, "Thank God, I am redeemed from the curse of the law. I'm also delivered from the authority of darkness, and I have world overcoming faith residing on the inside of me. Greatest is He that is in me than he that is in the world." Then they forget it all when things go wrong. They are only a hearer and not a doer. They saw they had authority. They saw that faith could remove mountains. But when they goes out to face the everyday circumstances of life, they quickly forget what they saw and they has no corresponding action toward what the Word said they are. They fall back into the negative stream and just says what the world says, "Well, I know it, nothing ever works out for me. The devil always throws a monkey wrench in my affairs. Nothing works out for me. That's the way the cookie crumbles." They are defeated by their attitude of hearing only ! But if they are a doer of the Word, when they face the hard situations in life and it looks like the devil has the upper hand, the beginnings to quote God's Word and say what God said about him or her. They says, "I proclaim that I am delivered from the authority of darkness. In the name of Jesus, Now remember what (Revelation 19:12-13) said, "His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood; and his name is called The Word of God." Now the true believer, will proclaim that I am delivered from the authority of darkness. In the name of Jesus, I'm and overcome. I overcome evil with good. Thank God, no weapon formed against me will prosper. Whatever I do will prosper." That would be corresponding actions toward that situation. They would be resisting the devil with God's Word. Some say, "Oh, yes, I believe the Word when I see it happen." James had something to say to you. "You believest that there is one God; you doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead ? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar ?" (James 2:19-21) Abraham wasn't justified just because he said, "I believe You, God." It was because Abraham acted on what God said. He had corresponding action.
