EXAMPLE'S OF GOD'S METHOD ! There are many others who believe God in a similar manner. God told Joshua: "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observed to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shall make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." (Joshua 1:8). We see God changing Abram's name so he would say what God said. God is giving these as examples of operating this method and principle of faith. What you speak is what you believe. Then what you believe is what you constantly speak over and over again. That's why it is important that you be careful what you speak. You will notice that Abraham and God called things that were not as though they were. It did not say they were calling things that were as though they were not. Be sure you understand this, for that is a great difference between these two statements. Abraham did not go around saying, "I'm not old. I'm not old. I'm not old. If he had said that, he would have been lying. Some have never understood the difference between lie and a confession. Some only know about confessing their sins, and you should confession of sins. But I'm not talking about confession of sin. A confession is based upon the Word of God. It may seem to the world that it is a lie; but if God said it, how could you lie by saying what God said ? I'm glad some people I know didn't live in Abraham's day. They would have done their best to talk him out of believing God's promise. Many good religious minded people have talk themselves out of God's best. They would have said, "you just ate too much chili. You didn't really hear from God. You're just an old man. It was just a dream. But God knew how faith worked. He planned it so that Abram would have to say, "I am the father of nations." Every time he said his name, he heard the Word of God, that was God's Word to him. As He Heard the Word of God for him, faith came. Her faith comes by hearing. The opposite end of this truth, is fear comes the same way by hearing. Faith came many years before the manifestation came. This is something I want to stress. Don't expect to become highly developed in faith overnight. It just doesn't happen that fast. It takes time. There is a process of learning and applying the principles or methods of God. A word of caution here. People get into trouble when they think they can go to a seminar and come home a three day wonder. But they do make you wonder, what happened to them ? You wonder if their mind went out for lunch and didn't return. They go back into their building and do all kinds of crazy things, calling it faith. Then the pastor has to pick up the pieces because they didn't get in on all the teaching.
