COUNTING ONESELF DEAD TO THE OLD LIFE ! "Even so consider yourselves also dead to sin and your relation to it broken, but alive to God [living in unbroken fellowship with Him] in Christ Jesus. Let not sin therefore rule as King in your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies, to make you yield to its cravings and be subject to its lusts and evil passions. Do not continue offering or yielding your bodily members [and faculties] to sin as instruments (tools) of wickedness. But offer and yield yourselves to God as though you have been raised from the dead to [perpetual] life, and your bodily members [and faculties] to God, presenting them as implements of righteousness." (Romans 6:11-12-13). The amplified Bible. The King James Bible, says "Reckon" does not mean suppose but count on, rely upon. The expression "old man" occurs elsewhere (Ephesians 4:22; Colossians 3:9) and means all that man was in the first Adam, both morally and judicially etc. the man of old, the corrupt human nature, the in born tendency to evil in all men and women. In (Romans 6:6) it is the natural man himself; in (Ephesians 4:22) and (Colossians 3:9) his ways. Positionally, in the reckoning of God, the "old man" has been crucified, and the believer or the born-again person is exhausted to make this good experience, reckoning it to be so by definitely "putting off" the old man and "putting on" the new (Colossians 3:8 through 14). There is no excuse, that you are going to sin: sin is a choice, an act of the will. The Scripture says, in (James 1:13-14-15) "Let No one say when he is tempted, I am tempted from God; God is incapable of being tempted by [what is ] evil and He Himself tempts no one. But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions). Then the evil desire, when it has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is fully mature, brings forth death. Do not be misled, my beloved brothers and sisters." God The Father and God The Son and God the Holy Spirit is not going to make you love me do anything that is evil, that comes from Satan and those that followed him. You have two choose to follow after Christ's; in fact Satan or the fallen one cannot make you sin against God or against your body which is the temple of God. You have to choose ! That's why the apostle Paul say, "Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to punish all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled." (2 Corinthians 10:5-6). Your warfare is in your own renewed mind !
