BELIEVING IN HOPE ! "Now faith is the substance (assurance) of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1). Now let's go to (Romans 4:17) where the apostle Paul tells about Abraham's faith. In verse 17 we find that God called things that were not as though they were, and He talked Abraham to do the same. The inverse 18 He tells us what to do when there is no hope. When there is no hope, you and I have nothing for faith to give substance or assurance to ! "Who against hope believe in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, so shall thy seed be." (Romans 4:18). This says that Abraham, when there was no hope, made a decision to believe in hope. You might ask, "What do you mean, he believed in hope when there was none ?" He went back to God's Words and found the the hope he needed. There was no hope naturally because he was a 100 year old man and his wife was passed child bearing years, but there was supernatural hope in the promise itself. What are you going to do when there is no whole concerning your financial situation or your health ? Maybe you are in that situation, when no whole naturally concerning your health or finances. Go to the source, which is The Word of God and get yourself some hope. Check to see what God said about your finances or your health. God believes in miracles. You will too if you keep His Word in your mouth. That's the key: confessing what God said is true concerning your finances or your health and every other area in your life. "Who (Abraham) against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, so shall thy seed be (Romans 4:18). It didn't look that way to him; and it may not look that way to you: but he decided to believe, "So shall thy seed be, just as God said they would. "And being not we in faith, he considered not his body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb." (Romans 4:19). Notice, Abraham refused to consider his own body (the natural), now dead. NaturallySpeaking, 100-year-old men don't father children. But Abraham would not consider the fact that his body was dead. He was not just ignoring it; he was doing something about it. He decided to believe God's Word ! Sometimes people just ignore a situation, thinking it will go away. But things won't go away just because you ignored them. Abraham decided to do something about it. He believe what God said, and he started saying the same thing. Abraham may have said something like this: "it's sure doesn't look like it's going to come to pass. I sure don't feel like it. But I choose to believe God that I might be home the father of many nations." (Romans 4:21).
