WHY LOVE GOES TO WAR ! When it comes to loving your enemies, one more thing is to be said. God's command to love doesn't mean He never calls on Christians to go to war. He does. He not only calls some believers to military service, He anoints them to be a "minister of God... For good... A revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil." Shocking as it may sound, God believes in war. There comes a time in the course of human events when hateful, ugly, murderous people are oppressing others to the point that local law enforcement can't no longer handle it. People depend upon the natural realm of society, because they know little or nothing about the supernatural realm. At those times, the Prince of Peace becomes a man of war in order to put a stop to it. He not only condones war under those conditions, He teaches His people how to fight; and those who conduct war the way He says to do it will win. "For we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Many people opposes the Bible which is God's Word; because it opposes their lifestyle. They have made choices, against God, therefore they are children of their father Satan. Remember what happened when Chedorlaomer kidnapped Abraham's nephew, Lot ? Abraham heard about it and came after them. He gathered up 318 of his trained, armed servants and defeated Ched's massive, mighty forces so completely that the Bible refers to it as a "slaughter." We saw in chapter 5 that it was THE BLESSING that taught Abraham's servants to fight like that. It was THE BLESSING in operation that taught them military tactics and strategies. They had operational technology that Ched's mob didn't have because God Himself taught them to war. "But I thought THE BLESSING is all about love !" Someone might say. It is, and love fights to protect its covenant partners.
