THE BLESSING OF THE LORD, THE DAY THE HEAVENS BROKE LOOSE ! "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called wonderful, counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of peace. of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end... And it shall come to pass in that day, that [the enemies] burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing." (Isaiah 9:6-7, 10:27). One day is with THE LORD as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day (2 Peter 3:8). So, for God, it was less than a week between the Garden of Eden and the birth of Jesus. For the devil, however, the time crawled. He spent 4000 years watching for an dreading the arrival of the long promised Messiah. For a fearful millennium wondering about the One, God has told him was coming after the Fall of man In the Garden. With every passing day, the question must have hounded him: who would it be--- this Seed of the woman who would come through the bloodline of King David to crush his head ? Which Seed of Abraham will prove Himself able to fulfill the divine promise: "... In thee shall all families of the earth be BLESSED (Genesis 12:3) ? Whoever He turned out to be, the prophets had made it clear He would be anointed with the power to destroy the sin-forged yoke the devil has used to enslave the human race. According to the prophets, This Anointed one would rip all authority and power out of his hands and put it back into the hands of mankind where, according to God's first words, it rightfully belonged. The devil has murdered one godly man after another in his attempts to abort the fulfillment of such prophecies. Time and again, he'd tried his best to obliterate the entire Hebrew race, or turned them into covenant- forsaking, sin-bound idol worshipers. So THE BLESSING on them would be blocked. Despite the devil feverish opposition, THE BLESSING always remained active through at least a remnant of them. Throughout the ages, there was always a man or woman or a group are stubborn believers who refuse to let go of it. Through them, THE BLESSING Kept Working, generation after generation. As a result, the devil could find no way to undo what Abraham had done the day he hiked up the mountain to offer Isaac as a sacrifice to God. Nothing could stop the divine response that has been authorized when, by faith in THE BLESSING, Abraham took his only begotten son and laid him on the altar as an offering for sin, fully expecting God to raise him from the dead. By offering Isaac, Abraham had activated the principle of the covenant that obligated God to do the same in return. He opened the door for God to offer up His only Son as a sacrifice for mankind. That, of course, was the reason God asked Abraham to offer Isaac in the first place. He did it to set the plan of redemption irrevocably in place. Although it took a few thousand years for that plan to unfold, eventually it did. On one historic night in Bethlehem, the Son of God Himself stepped through the door of eternity that had been opened by Abraham's faith in THE BLESSING. After marching down through the generations, THE BLESSING gave birth to a tiny, sin less baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. THE WAY TO THE GARDEN IS OPEN AGAIN ! And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo the angel of THE LORD came unto them, and the glory of THE LORD shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior. Which is Christ THE LORD (Luke 2:8--11). Ignore the images you've seen on so many Christmas cards, ignore the image that you have seen on so many paintings. Forget the glitter and the drawings of sissified, singing angels. These verses record one of the most earth shaking events of all time. They contain an announcement more shocking than any that has been heard since God BLESSED Adam in the Garden of Eden--- an announcement that thrilled the heavens, stunned earth and threw hell into a panic.
