MAKING THE COVENANT CONNECTION ! One of my favorite scripture examples of Jesus ministry as the Apostle and High Priest of our confession is (Psalms 91). It begins with the faith declaration of the psalmist who says: "He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of The Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust (versus 1-2).At that point, the voice of the narrative negatives changes. Someone else begins to speak in answer to the psalmist's confession and say to him: surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shall thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day (versus 3-5). Who is the second speaker ? It is Jesus, the High Priest ! He did for the palmist exactly what He does for us. When Covic 19 was first broadcast to the world, every body was moving by the spirit of fear; they did exactly what the science community said: take a shot ! I took a dose of Psalms 91 ! When we speak The WORD of The LORD, he That declares THE BLESSING over us. In my case, He says, "Yes, Bobby ! Yes , JoAnn I will administer that confession. I ever live to intercede for you. I ever live to provide you with everything you could ever need or want. I ever live to be your assurance that God will cover you and protect you and keep you from harm. He'll give His angels charge over you and set you on high. Satan used part of this verse on Jesus doing the mounting temptation ! It's because he knows what God has promised for every born again human being. He'll show you His salvation in every situation because you are BLESSED. Can you see what a joy and three is to know we're backed up by Jesus high priestly ministry ? It's an absolute marvelous thing ! "Yes, Brother Lewis, for some reason, it just doesn't seem very real to me. Is there anything I can do to get a greater revelation of it ?" Yes, I'm glad you asked; you can find it in Hebrews. There, the Bible tells us exactly how to connect with Jesus high priestly ministry. It explains that "as an high priest for four ever after the order of Melchizedec," Jesus does for us what Melchizedek did for Abraham. He ministered to us according to the same pattern. For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and BLESSED him; to have also Abraham gave a TENTH part of all... (Hebrews 7:1-2). Tithing is not just some old covenant principle, it is a spiritual law ! We already studied the Genesis account of how Melchizedek, speaking on behalf of God, declared THE BLESSING over Abraham. By saying, "BLESSED be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth," Melchizedek made him joint possessor of heaven and earth and gave it to him the dominion God has given to Adam in the beginning. But, I want you to notice something: Abraham didn't just take that BLESSING and say, "Thank You. I appreciate that," and walk away. Both Genesis and Hebrews tells us he responded toTHE BLESSING in a very specific way, just as God had planned for Adam to respond to it in the Garden of Eden--- by tithing. This is a vital part, so let it really sink in: Abraham connected to THE BLESSING of the high priest through the tithe, and we do it the same way. Our son do not do it at all and wonder why they are struggling financially, or under and suffering some other part of the curse !
