FAITH COMES BY HEARING : When I was a young Baptist boy, I had been taught that God could heal if He wanted to, which was an even bigger insult than saying He couldn't heal--- both are lies). As I struggled to read the Word, through, the devil will write their trying to bring to my remembrance all the doubt and unbelief I had ever heard. He reminded me that I had heard that healing had been done away with. But do you know how I was able to overcome that obstacle ? I could never remember having heard anyone say that faith in God and in His Word had been done away with ! This cripple man at Lystra had conceived faith to be healed. In (Mark 5:34) Jesus said to the woman who had just been healed from her issue of blood, "Daughter, thy FAITH hath made thee whole." Faith has not been done away with ! It has been substituted for something that is called faith ! However, faith in God it comes by hearing--- and hearing by the Word of God ! Jesus did not say that it was His power which made the woman whole; he kept that said that her faith did it. What, did she do or say ? First, she heard, then she said "if I made but touch his clothes I shall be made whole." Then she acted on what she said. When I saw this, I knew that if her faith made her whole, then my faith could make me whole. And, thank God, it did ! How did this man at last get faith to be healed ? From what he heard. And and what he heard was the Word of God, The Gospel good news. Is there something about the Gospel that would cause a lifelong cripple to be healed ? Decidedly yes ! The apostle Paul preached a Gospel of salvation and of healing, stating, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek" (Romans 1:16). A footnote in the Scofield Bible referring to this verse says, "The Greek and Hebrew words for salvation imply the ideals of deliverance, safety, preservation, healing, and soundness." Therefore Paul was saying, "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. It is the power of God unto deliverance, safety, preservation, healing, and soundness." Paul preach the full Gospel, not just a part of it. In (Acts 8:5--8). "Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. Do you see any of these things happen in the place that you call church today ? For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies (tremors), and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city. In other words they had a citywide revival. These great miracles came about as a result of preaching Christ (verse 5). The New Testament knows no Christ without Christ the Healer. Physical healing-- divine healing-- is part of the Gospel. If there is no Gospel, Good New of healing today, neither is there a Gospel of salvation.
