FAITH AND CONFESSION : suppose someone turns the thermostat to 70° and then, in a little while, they turned it to 95°. Then they turn it to 60°. It will not work properly it that way. It will probably blow a fuse. It is not designed to be flipped from one extreme to the other all at once. It will blow a circuit. Someone might say, "Who would be dumb enough to do that ?" Christians do that all the time. They start making faith confessions: "Glory to God, my needs are met according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." They say that for a few days, then they look at circumstances and say, "Dear God, it's never going to happen. We will never get these debts paid. I don't know what we are going to do." Well, they just changed the thermostat of the heart. You have to set it where you want it and leave it there. That unit will work there and night to produce what you have dialed into it. It will never argue with you ! THE UNIT DOES MAKE DECISIONS : have you ever heard a heating cooling unit say "no That, I'm not sending cold air; you need hot air, so I'm lighting up the fire to send you some heat ? If it did that, we could will have to say, "Well, you never know what that unit is going to do. It has a mind of its own. But it doesn't work that way. It is constant. It always produces the very thing you call for, and that is how the heart [spirit of mankind is designed. "The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly." (Proverbs 20:27). "Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways [path]." (Job 22:28) (Mark 4:26) tells you the way it works. It is as if a man cast the seed into the ground. That is setting the goal. A seed to a farmer is a goal setter. If you want to know what goals you have set for your garden, just look and see what seed you have planted. You plant the seed, whether it's a negative seed or a positive see, Death or Life, and it works. You go to bed and get up. You don't have to hold to God that it will work. It will work because it is designed that way. The substance is in the seed itself. THERMOSTATS HAVE NO SUBSTANCE : suppose someone who had never seen a thermostat or a heating cooling system saw you turn the thermostat to 70° when the room was 90°. When it began to get cool, he or she would wonder why it was getting so cold. They would want to know what you need. "What is that little box on the wall ?" You say, "That's is a thermostat." "A thermostat. Where can I get one ?" You see what he or she has in mind. They goes down to the hardware store and buys a thermostat. He or she goes out to his or her cabin and nails it on the wall. Then they turn it to 70° and sit down and wait. They will have a long wait, because the goal setter does not have the ability to cool their cabin. It is only a goal setter. There is no substance in the thermostat to cool a room. Yet it establishea a goal to be met. Faith is the substance of things hoped for. Let's say it another way. Faith is the substance of everything needed to accomplish the goal hoped for. That cooling unit has electricity connected to it and is available at any time the thermostat makes a demand on it. The heating cooling system won't produce anything by itself. There must be a goal setter, and you must dial the goal. Hope is a goal setter for you. Always speak your hope. Your goals for your heart or spirit or set by speaking those things in faith. Whether the unit feels like it are not, when then thermostat's impulse goes to that unit, it releases the energy that is available, and it immediately starts producing the thing you dial into it.
