ENGULFED BY THE FIRE OF GOD ! There was a virtue of power involved in Peter's actual shadow. The effect of the anointing that was on him extended out of Peter though his shadows from Peter's body. I actually believe that the close Peter walked with Jesus, though his being separated and consecrated unto God from the world and its influence: (Act 5: 12-through 16)"Now by the hands of the apostles (special message) numerous and startling sign and wonders were being performed among the people. And by common consent they all met together [at the temple] in the covered porch [walk[called Solomon's. And none of those who were not of their number dared to Join and associate with them, but the people held them in high regard and praised and made much of them. More and more there were being added to the Lord those who believed [those who acknowledged Jesus as their Savior and devoted themselves to Him joined and gathered with them], crowds both of men and of women, So that they [even] kept carrying the sick into the streets and placing them on couches and sleeping pads, [in the hopes] that as Peter passed by, at least his shadow might fall on some of them. And the people gathered also from the towns and hamlets around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those troubled with foul spirits, and they were all cared." anyone who got close to Peter get healed as well as receive deliverance . Religious tradition will tell you that happened because Peter was some kind of special apostle or because he was the first pope. But that's not the reason. Peter just had a greater revelation of THE BLESSING of the anointed dumas power that belong to him through His devotion to Jesus who is the Christ. Many people today use the name of Jesus as a lucky rabbit's foot ! Not out of a devotion to follow in the footsteps of Jesus out of a conscience consecration and dedication of their body. Peter knew when he walked down the street, THE BLESSING of the dumas Holy Ghost power was on the scene. "Brother Lewis, surely you're not saying we, as believers to day, could have the kind of Manifested power to heal and deliver the people that are under the oppression of demon spirits as the Apostle Peter did !" I don't have to say it. Peter said it himself after he and John got the crippled man at the temple gate healed a few days after Pentecost. All of the true disciples of Christ practice holiness, and consecration, and dedication to God. Their vessel: their body became the temple or vessel in which the Holy Spirit would inhabit. The Holy Spirit is not going to dwell in and upon an unclean vessels. And all the people saw him walking about and praising God, and they recognized him as the man who usually sat [begging] for arms [money] at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement (bewilderment, consternation) or what had occurred to him. Now why he [still] firmly clung to Peter and John, all the people in utmost amazement ran together and crowded around them in the covered porch [walk] called Solomon's. And Peter, seeing it answered the people. You men of Israel, why are you So surprised and wondering at this ? Why do you keep staring at us, as through by our own individual power are activity piety we had made this man able to walk ? though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk ? The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus, Whom you delivered up and died in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; and killed the Prince Of Life, whom God had raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. And this man through faith in his name, had made this man strong, whom you see and know; yes, the faith which is by [Jesus] has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. And now, brethren, I know that you acted in ignorance not aware of what you were doing, as did your rulers also. Thus God has Fulfilled what he foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that is Christ the Messiah should undergo ill treatment and the afflicted and suffer. So repent (change your minds and purpose) turn around and return to God, that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean) the times of refreshing of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord: (Acts 3:12--19). When you translate that out of the Elizabethan English of the King James version Bible and into the South Texas version, Peter says something like this: "Hey don't look at me like I did this by my own holiness are some special calling. Don't make a big deal of me. I was able to make this God kind of walk because God--- the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of THE BLESSING--- has glorified His Son, Jesus, and given Him the Name above all names. It's faith in that Name that made this crippled whole !" Any believer anywhere, anytime, who will practice holiness by dying to their flesh, and purge themselves of its unholy desires will put the same kind of faith in Jesus Name that Peter did, and can do the same kind of thing. Yes, it is the God kind of faith that Christians will dare to believe what God said. Anyone of us who will dare to believe THE BLESSING that was on the first Adam is the same BLESSING that has come on us through the last Adam, can minister just like those first disciples did. Don't listen to the lie that THE BLESSING which is The Anointing that will destroy any yoke and remove any burden, By the Holy Spirit. By simple faith in the Name of Jesus, we can reach out in the power of THE BLESSING--- the only power on earth that can touch a sin-crippled, fallen race and make it whole. It is a dedication and commitment to follow Jesus Christ. To deny oneself is to die to self: the world and the god of this world (Romans 12: 1- 2).
