COME SIT WITH ME ! "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us together with Christ, (by grace you are saved;) and has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 2:4-6). When I was a little boy, it seemed I was always getting into some kind of trouble. Mama usually called me and made me regret it by giving me the most dareded warnings of my young life: "you just wait until I finish cooking and I'm going to give you what your daddy should." You have to understand, I didn't grow up with a father in the house; so mother tried to be mama and daddy. I felt like my whole world turned upside down when she said that because I lived looking forward to my dad's homecomings. So my dad came about one time in my life. So I got angry, and begin to talk to God who I didn't know also ! And told him that since my biological father wasn't there; I was going to take Him as my Father. I was about seven years old at the time. I had no idea what being born again was about, my aunts always took me to what is call church. They would tell me everything is going to be all right. That's What the Lord would say to all His children in every situation if we'd just draw near and settle down long enough to hear Him. But all too often, we haven't done it. We've paced the floor instead, worrying about seemingly insurmountable problems. That's what religion taught us in the early 60s and 70s. We've tossed and turned all night wondering what we're going to do. Some people just have the idea that they pray long enough and hard enough God will finally answer. We've run in circles until we're exhausted, trying--- and failing--- to find the solution. If we would pay attention to what THE WORD OF GOD says, however, we'd never have to do those things again. We will do something entirely different when problems arose and troubles threatened to overwhelm us. We really do something scriptural--- something that would actually do some good. We would simply sit down. Sit down amazing as it seems, that is actually what God has instructed us as born again believers to do. He has issued us and invitation that enables us to triumph over every testing from the devil that he sends our way. He God my Father has said to us: "sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. "But Brother Lewis, I thought God said that to Jesus." He did. But it applies to us just as surely as it does to our resurrected Lord Himself because Jesus isn't sitting alone at God's right hand. But God--- so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us, Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; He gave was the very life of Christ Himself, the same life with which He quickened Him, for it is by grace His favor and His willingness and mercy which you did not deserve that you are saved delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's salvation, which is deliverance, healing, soundness, and preservation. And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together giving us a joint seating with Him in the heavenly sphere by virtue of our being in Christ Jesus the Messiah the Anointed One. He did this that He might clearly demonstrate through the ages to come the immeasurable limitless, surpassing riches of His free grace His unmerited favor and his willingness in His kindness and goodness of heart toward us in Christ Jesus.
