A MIRACULOUS TRANSFER ! What the new Covenant costs Jesus goes beyond what the natural mind can comprehend. Even though the most gruesome the depictions of His physical sufferings don't begin to touch the fullness of the Passion and price He paid because His greatest agonies were not physical but spiritual. He didn't just die a fleshly death, He took into Himself every sin man can ever committed--- past, present and future. He absorbed into His own spotless spirit, every foul, demonically inspired thought, action and deed of humanity and suffered the full consequences of them all. "For he [God] has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree" (Galatians 3:13). "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and THE LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:6). Brother Lewis," you might say, "how could Cindy get into Jesus spirit if He never committed any sin ?" Our sin got into His spirit the same way his camp that righteousness gets into ours when we're born again from above. It was transferred by a miracle of God that was released through faith in His WORD. Jesus received spiritual death the same way we receive spiritual life: by believing in His heart and confessing with His mouth that what God said would come to pass. You must understand, that believing with the heart is not believing with your head; what you can physically see smell taste and touch or hear. He stood in faith on THE WORD that THE LORD would lay on Him the iniquity of us all, stepped out in obedience to it by going to the Cross, and THE WORD did its work. When it did, Jesus body became so twisted and disfigured by the effects of sin, He didn't even look human. His spirit underwent such torture and pressure that "his visage was...marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of man." No human spirit has ever gone through the horror He did. That's why the centurion who witnessed Jesus death said, "Truly this was the Son of God" ! The centurion had probably seen hundreds of people crucified, but never seen anything like what happened to Jesus. The only thing he could figure was what the Pharisees had said was true. This man must have committed some kind of blasphemy. He claimed to be equal to God, and now God, in His wrath, was punishing Him. Even today, when we tell people that they are equal to God, they think that we are blaspheming. That's what most of the people who watched Jesus die believed. While He was hanging on the Cross paying the price for their sins, bearing their guilt on himself, they claimed He was being "smitten of God."
