A MASSIVE, GOD ORDAINED TRAP ! Actually, it was the spiritual suffering Jesus was facing that He agonized Over in the Garden of Gethsemane. When He said, "O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me," He wasn't asking to be spared form the physical torment of the Cross. He wouldn't have sweated drops of blood over the thought of His body dying. That wasn't the major part of what He was facing. The thing He dreaded and felt such sorrow about was being separated from His Father and going to hell on behalf of Humanity. Never in all of human history has anyone gone to hell and gotten out. No man has ever done what Jesus Christ the Anointed One of God the Father, was about to do. No man has ever given himself up to Physical death and spiritual death and then be made spiritually alive. Yet, Jesus took the step of faith. He went to the Cross believing that by the power of God The Holy Spirit He would be the first man ever born again from death to life, the first man to ever engage triumphant from the depths of hell. When He took that step, every demonic spirit in existence, every principality and power, every ruler of the darkness of this world, every wicked spirit in heavenly places came after Him. They swarmed around Him expecting to annihilate Him and lock Him up in that pit so He could never get out. They sneered and exhaled themselves over His tortured, emaciated, death-wracked spirit, thinking that somehow they had outsmarted The Anointed One and done away with THE BLESSING once and for all. But the whole thing was a trap. A massive, God-ordained trap. Jesus the Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Father Himself had suckered all those demons in there at the same time for one reason: to strike them down with a single stroke. Just as God knew they would, they took the bait.... Then the trap snapped shut. The voice of God Almighty roared across the universe, shaking the very gates of hell and striking like lightning into Jesus shriveled, sin-plagued Spirit, Soul and body: "Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.... And again I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son.... Let all the angels of God worship him." According to the book of Hebrews, those are the words God spoke when He raised Jesus from the dead. Those are the words that brought the First-begotten again into the world. "But, Brother Lewis, don't those verses refer to Jesus being begotten of God when he was born in Bethlehem ?" No, God didn't become Jesus Father when Mary gave birth to His physical body. Jesus has been the Son of God throughout eternity. In Bethlehem, He simply took on a human form. That's where "The WORD was made flesh, and dwelt among us." It wasn't after He'd been separated from God by spiritual death and the sin of mankind that God said, "Again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son." It was when the power of God resurrected Jesus Spirit, Soul and Body in the pit of hell and He was born again that's when He became "the first begotten of the dead." At that moment, Jesus was brought to life by God's words of dominion, just ,as Adam was in the beginning. God called Him Son and rocked the universe with the command, "Let all the angels worship Him !" When every angel including Satan himself, fell at Jesus feet. They didn't like it, but they had to do it anyway. That whole, filthy, demonic realm sank weak-kneed in Jesus presence as His Spirit, Soul and Body was regenerated by the power of God Holy Spirit !
